It is SEO’s best practice to use descriptive keyword-relevant text in the alt attribute on all images.
Our take: Image ALT text is a useful way to introduce relevant keywords on your page and describe what the image is about. Done correctly this gives your site an edge and helps your rankings increase for certain keywords and themes.
Bear in mind that this attribute is also used by screen readers and other devices that parse and interpret textual content so you are not just putting these here for search engines.
Do: include alternative text in all of your images.
Don’t: Keyword stuff of call every image your target keyword or something it clearly isn’t.
Tip: Be aware of using the same image in multiple places on your site in WordPress’s media library. The alternative text you use to describe your image may not be appropriate everywhere the image is used.
